The document addresses gender equality in the field of sport. It highlights that while progress has been made, women and girls still face practical, sociocultural and structural barriers to full participation in sport, as well as under-representation in coaching, leadership and decision-making roles.
The text calls for action to eliminate discrimination, broaden access, ensure gender-equal pay and representation, combat stereotypes, harassment and gender-based violence, and improve the visibility of women’s sport in media.

Member States are encouraged to develop or strengthen national strategies and action plans to promote gender equality in sport, to monitor participation and representation data, and to adopt inclusive policies and funding conditions. The European Commission and the sports movement are invited to support the exchange of good practices, facilitate research, promote media coverage of women’s sport and embed gender equality criteria into sport governance and major events planning.
